Spectrasol: heading for the best light
We are a Czech company founded in 2018. We supply and apply unique procognitive and biodynamic LED technology lighting protected by two patents, which has a proven positive effect on the body of users and the resulting practical benefits. Our luminaires are proving their capabilities in a number of organisations, educational and medical facilities, among other institutions. (testimonials)

Having founded Spectrasol, light and its applications for better life and health became his hobby and mission.
Daniel is the author or co-author of the books Marketing Communication at the Point of Sale (2018/2020), POP – In-store Communication in Practice (2009), Marketing Communication – How to Communicate in Our Market (2016) and Emotions in Marketing (2014) published by Grada Publishing.
Hynek Medřický

Hynek has been dealing with light for over 30 years; for the last 15 years he has been intensively studying the influence of light on circadian rhythms and functions of organisms. He has long collaborated on projects with leading experts in the fields of biology, chronobiology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, immunology, oncology and others.
Thirteen years ago he participated in a National Institute of Mental Health (NÚDZ) experiment. He spent four nights with a cannula in his vein to measure melatonin levels under different light signals. This personal, practical experience of the effect of light on the body became an indispensable part of Hynek’s further journey.
He also originated the Apple Nightreader app, which resulted in the release of the Night Shift feature for iOS in April 2016. He has not only been trying to change society’s attitude to lighting quality by his active work in public space, but also by representing the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic in a commission that adjusts standards and changes the approach to exterior and interior lighting, and is additionally a member of the Technical Standardisation Commission of the Czech Republic.

Daniel is responsible for sales and business development. He has more than 30 years of experience in business and public administration and has been active in politics.
During his political tenure at Prague 7 and the Prague City Hall he managed the education departments. In this work he became interested in concentration, memory and behavioural disorders in children and the factors that contribute to them (including the quality of lighting). Once he met Hynek Medřický, they were just a step away from founding Spectrasol.
Spreading awareness of procognitive light and its implementation not only in schools is his biggest hobby.

Our story
1995
Born from a passion for light
For Hynek Medřický, light has been his hobby, mission and passion since elementary school. In 1995 he begins to develop a procognitive LED light source with a view to bringing electric lighting as close as possible to natural sunlight. In collaboration with renowned chronobiologists, physicians and light engineers, he creates and launches its first products.
2018
We found Spectrasol and obtain the first patent
- We win our first patent – No. 308363 ‘LED lighting source for enhancing cognitive performance’.
- The Spectrasol light shower helps the performance of Czech Olympians in Seoul.
2018-2020
Improving, verifying, certifications, Siemens
Working with CTU and NUDZ we improve the properties of the light source and verify its efficiency. We standardise our products and get them certified, introducing mass production in the Czech Republic and winning our first major projects, such as the general overhaul of lighting at Siemens Energy in Brno.
2019
We are part of an experiment at two secondary schools in Prague
CTU conducts independent research on the effects of Spectrasol lighting on academic achievement, sustained attention, cognitive performance, memory, visual function and absenteeism. The excellent results of the project open the way for full-spectrum cognitive lighting in school facilities.
2020
Scientific validation in practice, another patent and space research
- We get valuable testimonials about the positive effects of our light – the Home for the Elderly in Beroun and Na Pražačce secondary school, the Biocev laboratories. For more details see the relevant studies here.
- We obtain Patent II No. 309539 ‘White light luminaire for everyday activities regenerating the retina of the eye’.
- We are part of the Hydronaut H03 Deeplab space research project. We develop, supply and test biodynamic lighting in an underwater spacecraft simulator for astronaut training.
2021-2023
We win increasingly more clients, introducing new products and their mass production by traditional Czech manufacturers
2023
A successful test at the National Institute of Mental Health; an international competition won
- At the National Institute of Mental Health (NUDZ), we successfully tested the phototherapy pavilion and case throughout the year. Both facilities help treat depression and other mental illnesses.
- The Spectrasol Sunflow lamp won the international LIT LIGHTNING DESIGN AWARDS competition.
2024-
